European headquarters have been established in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) for Lumenis Ltd. (Yokneam, Israel). Mike Terry, executive vice president, European Operations, will be in charge of the new headquarters, which will coordinate all sales, marketing, and service activities for Europe and host the company's main distribution center outside the United States.

Lumenis has also opened a branch office in Schaffhausen (Switzerland) to manage its portfolio of intellectual property and other intangible assets outside the United States. Lumenis was formerly known as ESC Medical Systems. The company manufactures and markets proprietary laser and intense pulsed light devices used in surgical applications, such as urinary lithotripsy, gynecology, and benign prostatic hyperplasia.

"The new Amsterdam office will help us to increase our penetration of the European market,” said Yacha Sutton, president and CEO of Lumenis.
