A new version of an operating room (OR) integration solution interconnects the equipment pool that is found in most operating theatres, helping to coordinating individual workflows.

The AV Conference 3.0 system serves as the "central cockpit” of Maquet OR integration, and it is used to control Maquet equipment. Devices from other manufacturers, such as endoscopy equipment, can also be integrated into the system without any difficulties. The AV Conference modular concept also makes it possible to utilize individual components of the system solution, and to customize central functions that meet the specialized requirements of each hospital. The ultimate goal of achieving a complete solution can thus be implemented systematically, based on the needs and expansion options afforded by individual modules.

The OR integration solution complies with the demands for ergonomics and safety as posed by individual surgical disciplines, guaranteeing that the surgeon and OR team maintain free access to the patient, while at the same time ensuring optimum visibility of the events unfolding on the operating table, as well as on the OR monitors. The surgical team can thus maintain an ergonomically comfortable position, while still preserving optimal visibility, a critical factor in any surgery, but especially in minimally invasive surgery.

The AV Conference 3.0 system also offers recording and playback of image data in High Definition (HD) quality, thanks to the integration of a Maquet Orchide HD camera in the OR lights, providing a two million pixel high color digital image that offers enhanced accuracy and realistic, flowing three dimensional (3D) images, supporting the precise evaluation of clinical findings. The AV Conference 3.0 system is a product of Maquet (Rastatt, Germany).

"[The AV Conference 3.0] offers optimum access and recording of patient-relevant image and data sources, central control of equipment such as operating tables and OR lights, combined with significantly improved ergonomics for our medical staff,” said Giovanni Spina, technical director of Ospedale di Rovigo (Italy), which decided to opt for a complete OR solution from Maquet that included Alphamaquet 1150 operating tables, PowerLED OR lights and ceiling supply units, and AV Conference 3.0 systems that will be integrated into nine operating theatres.
