Surgical Table Optimizes Patient Positioning and Outcomes

Innovative orthopedic surgical tables maximize operational efficiency while maintaining patient and staff safety.

The STERIS OT 1000 series of orthopedic surgical tables offer ergonomic hand controls with touch pad activation and a drive function that a single user can maneuver. More...
The tables also have a quick release mechanism on the boot, headrest, and lateral slide, an integrated safety lock, and accommodate a wide range of patients (pediatric to large adults) for simple positioning with repeatable accuracy. The illuminated, data-rich hand control allows touch pad activation of numerous functions such as floor locks, Trendelenburg, height, tilt, level and stop patient positioning, and lateral slide and femur control.

All tables are designed to optimize a full range of imaging capabilities from mid-abdomen to distal lower extremities, providing C-arm access for supine, prone, and lateral positions. Easy-grip drive handles and the unique drive system make transporting the table easy and safe, and in addition, a free-floating clamp allows the traction device to be aligned with the spar for less restricted imaging angles. The radiolucent carbon fiber spars minimize interference, but can also be positioned out of the imaging area if needed. A novel lateral translation function shifts the patient away from the table core to help improve imaging results.

The tables also include SWAN technology, an articulation capability that allows effortless movement of the patient for anterior approach total hip arthroplasty (AATHA), fracture reduction, and other orthopedic procedures. Slide, traction, and rotation of the boot are controlled with one hand, while the other manages movement of the leg spar. This allows gross and fine traction positioning and a full range of motion without interference from the equipment.

An added feature is improved patient airway access for anesthesia provision through the articulating headrest. The STERIS OT 1000 series of orthopedic surgical tables are a product of Steris (Mentor, OH, USA). The 1100 and 1200 models of the OT 1000 series tables also include a powerful drive function that enables a single user to maneuver the table throughout perioperative areas quickly and easily.

“Steris surgical tables have historically served as the gold standard of surgical platforms throughout the United States,” said Chris Labedz, product manager at Steris Surgical Solutions. “Building on that standard, we continue to innovate by listening to the feedback of our Customers. In this case, the clinical needs of orthopedic surgeons, patients and staff, and the efficiency and productivity demands placed on surgical departments were the focus for a unique platform that can make a significant difference in daily orthopedic workflow.”
