A multi-modality system that delivers both thermal and intermittent pneumatic compression therapy provides healthcare practitioners with flexible treatment options for orthopedic rehabilitation.

The Med4 Elite Multi-Modality Recovery Device is a touchscreen-controlled system that integrates iceless cryotherapy, thermotherapy, rapid contrast therapy (RCT), and intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) into one device to aid physical therapists, athletic trainers, physicians, and other users with a comprehensive, flexible, and clinically proven treatment options for diverse injuries, post-surgery recovery, and different stages of rehabilitation.

The therapy unit features dual microprocessors, enabling comprehensive and flexible treatment for two patients simultaneously. And thanks to the intuitive touchscreen interface, Med4 Elite users can easily alternate between and combine among the four therapeutic modalities, as well as control, adjust, and monitor treatment times, temperature ranges, and compression settings. Cryotherapy can be adjusted down to 3°C, promoting vasoconstriction to reduce inflammation and edema, decrease muscle spasms and metabolic demand, and safely relieve pain without narcotics.

Thermotherapy up to 45°C is used to promote vasodilation and increase circulation to the injured area, supporting the lymphatic system and stimulating natural healing while reducing pain and stiffness. Heat therapy is intended for use after the initial inflammatory response caused by an injury or surgery begins to diminish. Rapid contrast therapy (RCT) uses both heat and cold to alternately expand and constrict the vascular system, increasing blood flow to an injured area without causing the accumulation of additional edema. RCT also helps decrease nerve sensitivity to reduce pain.

The systems patented active compression technology delivers adjustable IPC, which mimics natural muscle contractions to force edema away from the injury area, encourage oxygenated blood flow, and help conform the wraps to the body for better surface contact and more effective cold, heat, and contrast therapy, helping to accelerate the healing process; a wide portfolio of anatomically designed wraps are available for optimized IPC. The Med4 Elite system is a product of Game Ready (Concorde, CA, USA), and has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

“With the launch of the Med4 Elite we are changing the post-operative and post-injury landscape. This is a landmark moment for Game Ready and our customers,” said Craig Grabell, CEO and President of Game Ready. “We are excited to build on the success of our GRPro 2.1, and add additional therapies that will help providers get all their patients back to being their best. Game Ready is not just for world-class athletes. Elite technology for everyone is what Game Ready is all about.”
