An innovative surgical information hub integrates a wide spectrum of data, from complete digital operating room (OR) functionality to imaging and video management and documentation.

The Buzz Digital OR is an internet protocol (IP)-centric, software-centric, workflow-centric, and patient-centric system that bundles robust hardware and sophisticated software together in a sleek, modern design that allows users to connect with a multitude of video signals and route content to multiple, full-HD displays. The system features a large 42 inch display with an ultraslim multitouch interface that displays images in full high definition (HD), a convenient home button, a smartphone dock, and an integrated sound system, webcam, and microphone.

The control concept of the system enables intuitive management of data sources and displays, with drag and drop functionality to effectively manages advanced OR workflow, facilitating planning, navigation, and intraoperative imaging connectivity. Fast and easy access to medical image data is provided through the integrated interactive Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) viewer. Procedures can be conveniently documented with screenshots or dual channel recording. The Buzz Digital OR is a product of Brainlab (Munich, Germany).

“Buzz Digital OR is a highly advanced surgical device, tailored to meet the specific needs of the surgical environment,” said Stefan Vilsmeier, president, and CEO of Brainlab. “We understand and embrace the trend of fusing medical devices and IT systems inside healthcare facilities, as this allows for intelligent, scalable, and flexible OR integration solutions; we expect that hospitals and surgeons are going to reap untold benefits by installing Buzz systems, and will offer new possibilities in data flow and patient care.”

“Buzz Digital OR has been designed from the ground up and incorporates key customer feedback based on the success of the Digital Lightbox,” said Stephan Holl, COO of Brainlab. “We can now offer intelligent software algorithms to create a system that can run any and all data across the hospital IP network.”
