Sermo (Cambridge. MA, USA), a leading online community exclusive to physicians, and TheVisualMD, a producer of comprehensive visual health content, are teaming up to provide doctors with a more dynamic online experience for cross-disciplinary discussion and collaboration on key therapeutic areas and disease states.

The ultimate goal of the partnership, which will launch in the summer of 2012, is to enhance physician collaboration through the use and sharing of web based tools and applications. TheVisualMD will begin distributing video and interactive rich media assets and tools within the Sermo community, initially with Sermo health education centers. Member discussion on clinical cases can then be based on content from key opinion leaders, leading medical journals and research institutions, and visual anatomical education tools that incorporate real data derived from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computerized tomography (CT) scans and three dimensional (3D) microscopy.

“We see TheVisualMD's rich media capabilities and unsurpassed health education materials as a natural fit with our platform, currently serving 125,000 physicians across the US,” said Jonathan Michaeli, VP of Marketing at Sermo. “TheVisualMD's content will be instrumental in our efforts to build physician engagement, recruit new members, and enhance Sermo's inventory of offerings to healthcare marketers.”
“Health information to the professional and consumer has not kept pace with the dynamic usage opportunities the internet is offering,” said Alexander Tsiaras, CEO and Founder of TheVisualMD. “We believe that in partnership with Sermo we can now advance both in content and technology the online conversations of physicians. By offering the Sermo community a rich visual experience, usage of real data, and compelling interactive tools we will enhance the profession conversation and learning curve.”

Sermo is one of the largest online physician communities in the United States, with more than 125,000 physicians spanning 68 specialties. All Sermo members are verified and credentialed physicians who collaborate on cases and exchange observations to improve patient care, discuss drugs and devices, and share information on new therapies and innovations. Sermo also provides a way to target and engage physicians by providing access to its community for clients that need fast, actionable insights into treatments, medications, and devices.

TheVisualMD.com is the world's largest library of high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) scans of real human data, and is the interactive website of Anatomical Travelogue (New York, NY, USA). It offers a rich, visual experience to learn, understand, and interact with health content on the Internet, by create visualizations and stories about the marvel of how we are designed, when things go wrong, and pathways back to health.
