FDA-Cleared Finger Cuff Device Enables Home Blood Pressure Monitoring

Accurate blood pressure monitoring is essential for managing hypertension and cardiovascular risk, but traditional upper-arm cuffs can be cumbersome in clinical and home settings. More...

These limitations can reduce adherence and complicate remote monitoring. A newly cleared finger-cuff device offers a simpler, portable alternative for noninvasive blood pressure measurement.

Wellvii Inc. (Palm Beach Gardens, FL, USA) has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for BP Go, a compact device that measures non-invasive blood pressure and pulse rate from the finger. The system is intended for use in clinical environments and for home, over-the-counter use. The clearance advances the company’s focus on connected health and remote patient monitoring.

BP Go employs a patented finger cuff to capture blood pressure directly from the finger. By shifting measurement away from the upper arm, the device is designed to eliminate several workflow and comfort issues associated with conventional cuffs. The company positions the technology as a convenient option for routine checks and ongoing monitoring.

According to the company, BP Go’s finger-based approach is meant to simplify measurement and support care beyond traditional settings. The device is portable and suited to remote-care workflows, aligning with efforts to extend monitoring and follow-up outside the clinic. The clearance underscores a pathway for integrating finger-cuff blood pressure assessment into patient management where ease of use and connectivity are priorities.

“This FDA clearance is a transformational milestone for Wellvii and BP Go. It brings us one step closer to making simple, accurate, and connected blood pressure monitoring available to millions of patients worldwide,” said Mark Khachaturian, PhD, CEO of Wellvii Inc.
