Telemedicine and ehealth will be the focus of a conference in Luxembourg April 21-23, 2004, called Med-e-Tel, formerly known as the Telemedicine & Telecare International Trade Fair.

A program of plenary sessions will feature contributions on European ehealth evolution and market potential, telemedicine applications in blood pressure and hypertension management, and PACS. An international program of parallel sessions will feature a wide range of practical presentations based on recent experiences and projects. Several additional meetings scheduled in conjunction with Med-e-Tel will cover ehealth standardization, electronic patient records, medical mobile technology, wearable health systems, telemedicine in developing countries, and a specific session on telemedicine needs and developments in Africa. The conference will also offer opportunities to see and evaluate various ehealth and telemedicine products.

Parallel sessions will bring together research scientists, manufacturers, and suppliers of equipment and services from 25 countries around the world. Presentations will discuss practical applications of ehealth, including telecardiology and telemental health. In addition, Health Information Network Europe (HINE) will hold a plenary session featuring strategic market information, and an industry panel will discuss critical ehealth issues. Details on the conference are available on the website.
