Cathetrix Debuts Breakthrough Catheter Innovations at MEDICA 2025

Cathetrix, a developer of smart catheter stabilization devices, is presenting two breakthrough innovations at MEDICA 2025 at Booth J35 in Hall 16. More...

The company will introduce Nephro-Safe, the world’s most advanced nephrostomy tube stabilizer, and will showcase its flagship product, Foley Safe, the first Foley catheter stabilizer with active protection. Together, these solutions establish a new benchmark in patient safety, providing multilayer defense against infection, accidental dislodgement, and unnecessary discomfort.

For more than six decades, Foley catheters have been secured solely by a retention balloon inside the bladder, a method linked to infections, leakage, and painful catheter movement. Foley Safe replaces this outdated approach with a three-layer protection system. The system combines external adhesive fixation that prevents small movements from reaching the urinary system; an anti-slide mechanism that absorbs minor motion and reduces stress on the catheter, lowering the risk of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs); and an advanced cutting mechanism that activates in cases of sudden, forceful pulling, cleanly severing the catheter, deflating the retention balloon, and allowing safe removal without injury.

Debuting under Cathetrix’s subsidiary TubeX, Nephro-Safe is designed to bring greater safety and peace of mind to nephrostomy tube patients and their caregivers. Its dual-layer protection system includes a specially designed adhesive patch, with optional suturing holes, that prevents urine bag pulling and stabilizes the tube, along with a uniquely engineered shell that absorbs body movements to prevent external forces from transferring to the nephrostomy site. This design helps reduce infection risk, discomfort, and the likelihood of accidental tube extraction.

“Millions of patients worldwide rely on Foley and nephrostomy catheters every year. With Foley-Safe and Nephro-Safe, we offer advanced, multi-layered protection that dramatically improves patient safety and quality of life,” said Tal Hadass, CMO at CATHETRIX. “We invite healthcare professionals, hospital decision-makers, and distributors to visit us at MEDICA and explore opportunities for collaboration.”
