A new partnership will allow physician offices to import electrocardiogram (ECG) readings into an electronic health records (EHR) platform.

The partnership, between AliveCor (San Francisco, CA, USA) and Practice Fusion (San Francisco, CA, USA), will allow the physicians to integrate the AliveCor Heart Monitor's ECG readings, annotated reports, and expert reviews, into the Practice Fusion EHR, which is used by more than 112,000 medical professionals on a monthly basis. All users will be offered the ability to import AliveCor ECGs directly into their EHR free of charge, allowing them to see a more complete picture of their patients' medical history and make more educated treatment decisions.

The AliveCor Heart Monitor is a mobile ECG recorder that supports both iPhone and Android smartphones. It records, displays, stores, and transfers single-channel ECG rhythms wirelessly, using the free AliveECG app. Using secure storage in the cloud, users can access their data confidentially anytime, anywhere, and can grant access to their physician. The AliveCor Heart Monitor is available for purchase in the United States by health professionals, patients with prescriptions, and over-the-counter (OTC).

“Our partnership with Practice Fusion, the nation's largest physician-patient community, is a key move toward incorporating mobile health into physician offices across the country,” said Euan Thomson, president and CEO of AliveCor. “Use of the AliveCor Heart Monitor is a cost effective and convenient mobile solution enabling physicians to have a better understanding of their patient's heart health.”

“We are delighted to offer our community the opportunity to access AliveCor ECG recordings on the Practice Fusion platform,” said Matt Douglass, co-founder and vice president of platform at Practice Fusion. “AliveCor is a leader in mHealth, and by linking directly to the largest cloud-based EHR in the country, more doctors will have 24/7 access to smartphone-based ECG readings in real-time than ever before.”
